Staff Accountant - Corporate Accounting

POSITION SUMMARY (Objective/Purpose of Position): The Staff Accountant – Corporate Accounting position is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions for the Company’s Retail division, for analyzing accounting data and preparing reports for management, and for preparing month-end journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:(List in order of importance, indicate the essential responsibility and the % of time dedicated to each. (Cumulative total Essential and Non-Essential Functions must add up to 100%, no responsibility should be less than 5%)· Ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts including cash, accounts receivable, prepaid assets, accrued liabilities and deferred income balances. 30%· Participate in the month-end variance analysis process, completing in-depth analysis of assigned financial statement items, coordinating variance responses from operational and corporate departments and communicating these results to management. 25%· Analyze and record accurate month-end financial accruals, review accruals processed by other departments and prepare other month-end entries. 20%· Assist in the preparation of comparative trial balances, consolidating schedules and other workpapers used in the review and analysis of monthly financial statements and used annually for the external audit. 15%· Coordinate the preparation of journal entries and financial statements for various subsidiaries, serving as a liaison for teams working in other locations. 10%· ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNEDEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:(List the MIINIMUM education and experience requirements to perform the essential functions of the position)Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / FinancePreferred Degree: N/ACertificate(s) or License(s): N/AExperience: 2+ years in accounting / financeKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:(List the MINIMUM knowledge, skills and ability required to perform the essential functions of the position):· Positive, solutions-oriented attitude with a drive for excellence· Ability to set, measure and consistently achieve goals within established timelines· Ability to communicate clearly both in written and verbal interactions· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills· Experience with advanced formulas and pivot tables in ExcelTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:N/ABass Pro Shops is an equal opportunity employer.
