Qualifications & Requirements

To work as a Speech-Language Pathologist in a California school setting, candidates should possess:

Required Education:

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from an accredited program

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Active California Speech-Language Pathologist License

• Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred

• California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential or eligibility

• Ability to successfully complete all school district onboarding requirements

• Current TB clearance and background screening as required

Minimum Requirements:

• Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of assignment required

• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred and may be required by state/contract.

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
