Position Summary: Kalman Manufacturing is a CNC machine shop looking for a manufacturing engineer to support the design and release to production of manufacturing processes to create customer products, as well as continuously improve specific and general processes on our manufacturing floor. As a member of the engineering team, this engineer will work with other manufacturing engineers, process engineers, production, quality, and procurement, as well as our customers and vendors, to develop the most efficient manufacturing processes possible. The engineer will be responsible for participating in the overall manufacturing concept, performing detailed analysis of manufacturing floor processes and requirements, developing methods of solving problems against manufacturing performance issues, overseeing fabrication, assembly, and test of prototype and alpha-level processes, as well as finalize and support the process design through production release. Depending on the size and scope of the projects, this work may be done by the engineer alone, or as part of a small team of engineers, machinists, inspectors, and designers under the direction of the manufacturing engineer. As manufacturing processes are the core of Kalman Manufacturing’s business, the position has high visibility within the business, and strong performers will become highly-valued members of the team. Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, similar Engineering fields, or appropriate hard sciences

· Fluency in CAD appropriate for the development of manufacturing processes

· Theoretical understanding of the key metrics and parameters associated with the design of manufacturing processes

· Demonstrated technical depth in the analysis of, and development of solutions for the challenges in a production plant

· Demonstrated capability in managing complex documentation processes for prototype and production release management

· Strong communication skills including demonstrated ability to create clear reports and documentation

· Enthusiastic desire to help drive engineering effort and capability of a company to best in class

Preferred Requirements:

· Experience as a manufacturing engineer in a production machine shop

· Project management capabilities centered around the development of project plans and workload/time estimates as well as reporting against project milestones, and developing solutions to close project gaps

· Experience in digital manufacturing and development of digital manufacturing capability

· Expertise in automation development and automation solutions that exist in the machining space

· Technical expertise in areas related to machining, e.g. metallurgy, additive manufacturing, plating and anodization, etc.
