Job Summary And Qualifications As a Radiation Therapist, your primary function is to administer prescribed doses of radiation to patients, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards. In addition: You are responsible for verifying prescribed treatment dose, specific body parts to be treated and angles to be used. You will place and immobilize the patient to ensure accurate treatment. Maintain constant contact with the patient to assure they remain in proper position throughout treatment. You must assure placement of protective devices to shield healthy exposed tissue of patients. Chart treatment details and report any abnormal conditions to the radiation oncologist. You are expected to provide appropriate teaching to patients and families.
