MEP Preconstruction Manager - Mission Critical

POSITION SUMMARYThe MEP Preconstruction Manager – Mission Critical is a part of McCarthy's National Mission Critical Business Unit and has the primary responsibility of estimating, design/decision assisting, and trade partner procurement for data center projects for MEP trade packages. This position is located in a geographic area where McCarthy has an office. A candidate who does not live in an area with a McCarthy office will need to relocate. If relocation is required, McCarthy offers a generous relocation package. RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare, maintain status of and review bid documents, submitting bids and estimates in a timely mannerPrepare complete, accurate quantity take-offs to build estimatesAssist with execution plans and win strategiesPrepare a thorough, detailed and well-annotated estimatePrepare a thorough, comprehensive proposal, including bid forms and supporting documentationSubcontractor & Vendor solicitation and management during preconstruction processParticipate in peer bid review and contract review for compliance with bid proposalFollow-up with prior bid projects on a weekly basis and update status at weekly estimating meetingAssist project manager if questions arise throughout the project about the estimateCultivate existing client relationships and work with Business Development in building new relationships and targeting opportunitiesParticipate in design meetings, OAC meetings and provide Design-Assist or Design Build input.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience with estimating, design management and/or field management.Experience in a Mechanical (HVAC/Plumbing) and/or Electrical Preconstruction capacity with a MEP Contractor or General Contractor. Preference is experience across all MEP trades. Minimum of 3 years' experience in Mission Critical projectsIn-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices requiredProven experience estimating mechanical (including plumbing/process) systems and complex electrical and low voltage systems. Experience working with MS Excel, On-Screen Take-Off, Bluebeam Studio, Accubid, Revizto, WinEst preferredExperience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform workSelf-starter, highly motivated with the ability to build trust and influence othersDemonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values while maintaining a "value added" approach to preconstructionStrong communication skills with ability to communicate with varied audiencesAbility to perform mechanical quantity take-off based on OPRs, BODs, SLDs, architectural floor plans (sometimes without mechanical drawings)Understand main differentiators among various mechanical and electrical systems and solutionsMcCarthy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veteran status.For California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $111,500 - $139,400. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation.
