Job Title: Electrician (Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Construction)

Job Description

This role focuses on industrial and data-center construction, installing and commissioning low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical infrastructure in new-build environments. You will work as part of an internal construction team to install, terminate, and energize new systems from drawings, then turn them over to operations. The position is hourly with overtime, involves extensive travel on a rotation schedule, and is based primarily in Southaven, MS for low-voltage work, with medium-voltage work performed at various active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Install and terminate new low-voltage electrical infrastructure, including conduit, cable tray, underground duct bank, cable, wire, and 480 V building and feeder work.
• Pull, land, torque, and energize new low-voltage equipment from construction drawings, one-line diagrams, manuals, and work packages, then turn systems over to operations.
• Follow lockout/tagout and grounding procedures and support the first energization of new 480 V systems.
• Perform hands-on work on 415 V and/or 480 V systems, including switchgear, busway, PDUs/UPS, main switchboards (MSBs), and grounding systems.
• Install medium-voltage infrastructure such as e-house medium-voltage switchgear (MVSG), generator step-up transformers (GSUs), 15 kV and 35 kV cable, and duct bank.
• Support hipot and very low frequency (VLF) testing of medium-voltage systems and work adjacent to live campus buses at 12.47 kV, 13.8 kV, and 34.5 kV.
• Build and commission new medium-voltage infrastructure from drawings, ensuring proper installation and terminations, and then turn completed systems over to operations.
• Apply NFPA 70E and OSHA 1910.269 safety practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and switching/clearance procedures for medium-voltage work.
• Use common electrical test tools such as multimeters, meggers, and ammeters to verify installations and support commissioning activities.
• Perform physical construction work, including routing, installing, and securing electrical materials, and working with construction hand and power tools.
• Work nights, weekends, and extended shifts as needed during construction and energization phases to meet project schedules.
• Travel 80% or more on a construction rotation to active data-center construction sites, mobilizing with project teams and moving with the work as new facilities come online.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5+ years of industrial or data-center electrical construction experience installing conduit, tray, duct bank, cable, and 480 V terminations.
• State journeyman electrician license for low-voltage inside-wireman work.
• At least 5+ years of medium-voltage construction experience at 5 kV or above; 415/480 V experience does not count toward medium-voltage requirements.
• Documented experience performing 15 kV and/or 35 kV terminations, supported by a resume or manufacturer terminator cards.
• Industrial or data-center construction or commissioning experience, rather than facilities, service, or plant operations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, one-line diagrams, manuals, and work packages.
• Hands-on installation skills, including working from prints, making terminations, landing and torquing conductors, and performing physical construction work.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures; OSHA 10 alone is not sufficient.
• Familiarity with OSHA 1910.269 requirements for medium-voltage switching, clearance, and safety.
• Proficiency with common electrical test instruments such as multimeters, meggers, and ammeters.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work at heights, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work in an hourly position with overtime, including nights, weekends, and extended shifts during construction and energization.
• Ability and willingness to travel 80% or more on a construction rotation, with per diem and/or housing provided while on site.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working specifically in data-center construction environments.
• Experience supporting hipot and VLF testing of medium-voltage systems.
• Comfort working adjacent to live campus buses at 12.47 kV, 13.8 kV, and 34.5 kV.
• Experience installing e-house medium-voltage switchgear, generator step-up transformers, and associated duct banks.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures when working on energized or potentially energized equipment.
• Ability to function effectively on traveling project teams and adapt to changing site conditions and schedules.
• Comfort with an hourly + overtime compensation structure and rotation-based travel assignments.

Work Environment

This is a field-based, construction-focused role working primarily on industrial and data-center build projects rather than operating plants or facilities maintenance. You work with low-voltage systems at 415 V and 480 V and medium-voltage systems at 12.47 kV, 13.8 kV, and 34.5 kV, including switchgear, busway, PDUs/UPS, main switchboards, generator step-up transformers, and medium-voltage cable and duct banks. The role is hourly with overtime and requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and extended shifts during critical construction and energization periods. You travel 80% or more on a rotation to active construction sites, with per diem and/or housing provided while on site. Work is physically demanding and performed at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in all weather conditions, using common electrical test tools and construction hand and power tools in a safety-driven environment governed by NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.269, and lockout/tagout procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southaven, MS.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.
