Career Specialist

Job Description: Title: Career Specialist Classification: Non-Exempt Salary: $50,000 Scope of Position Build relationships with community-based organizations to develop appropriate strategies to connect jobseekers to available opportunities; provide assistance as needed Provide customer-centered services designed to enhance workforce development activities and service strategies for jobseekers Keep a flexible schedule to meet customer and community partner’s needs Services may be offered in person or virtually depending on customer and community partner’s needs Essential Functions Answer questions in a computer lab setting including Career Resource Center Maintain current knowledge of state policies, local guidelines and regulations Disseminate information on available job opportunities to community-based organizations and jobseekers Communicate with direct supervisor to resolve problems Coordinate activities with central hub; assist in recruitment activities, coordinate with hub BST in placement activities Increase program awareness and participation through outreach at various partner locations through workshops, and open office hours Meet performance reporting criteria on a weekly, monthly and annual basis, as established by leadership Implement processes to identify jobseekers, and connect unemployed and long-term unemployed individuals to employment, identify barriers, and training opportunities that may be needed Assist clients in registering in PA CareerLink® system of record Identify and develop partnerships with agencies we currently do not work with in partnership with Outreach & Business Service Manager Participate in community functions and serve as a representative of CareerLink Document all participant contacts and activities in Commonwealth system of record to include case notes, services provided and post-placement follow-up contacts Participate in meetings associated with outreach Provide career guidance to assist jobseekers in making and carrying out career decisions for success in the labor market; identify suitability for and/or barriers to employment/training Provide current labor market information to jobseekers Assist with directing and registering clients with steps to get enrolled into PA CareerLink® services through appropriate program referrals to increase program enrollments Provide follow-up activities according to program guidelines Provide information to jobseekers, individually and in group sessions, about PA CareerLink® services and the services of other agencies and organizations electronically Provide assistance to jobseekers Provide reports as requested by management Other opportunities as available Education and Experience Requirements Experience in business, sales or training Interpersonal skills Experience in a team-oriented environment Bachelor's degree or related experience Experience working with unemployed, underemployed, displaced workers, ex-offenders, veterans, individuals with barriers, or other economically-disadvantaged populations Ability to prioritize tasks and document all aspects of services provided Demonstrated communication, analytical and interpersonal skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Valid Driver’s License, automobile and clean driving record required Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred Equal Opportunity Statement EDS I is an equal opportunity employer.
