Research Administrator 3

Position Overview Reporting to the Financial Operations Manager, provide leadership and support for the financial management of the Departments of Biochemistry, Plant Pathology and Microbiology, and the Center for Conservation Biology. Use your skills as an experienced research administrator to independently develop and coordinate research proposals for an assigned portfolio of Principal Investigators. Responsibilities Conduct post‑award contract and grant management and maintain contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Create proposals and awards of diverse scope where data analysis requires a thorough understanding of complex regulations. Develop complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and multiple sub‑awards. Perform complex budget/resource analysis, including forecasting; retrieve data from campus financial systems; organize and validate data; and prepare comprehensive reports for principal management. Participate in the design of department systems and processes to enhance processing and reporting tools. Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Experience Requirements 4–7 years of related experience. Experience with UC Policies and Procedures. Minimum Requirements Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting. Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines. Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures, and techniques. Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to the use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc. Ability to maintain independent judgment and strong organization and communication skills and customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas. Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non‑Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment. Ability to manage significant volume of transactions. Ability to maintain current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration. Preferred Qualifications Experience with UC Policies and Procedures (additional emphasis). Any other qualifications that further demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in research administration. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. The full salary range for the Research Administrator 3 is $68,500–$121,900 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is $68,500–$90,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
