Fleet Services - Shop Supervisor

Job Summary Operations Supervisor assists the Operations Manager I and II and/or Sr. Operations Manager I and II in managing the operations and personnel for a shift at a given location. The role involves supervising shift employees—including Technicians-In‑Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, and Service Employees—ensuring business objectives and labor requirements are met while balancing financial, operational, quality, safety, and asset targets. Key Responsibilities Perform workflow management: work analysis, planning, scheduling, shift and shop meetings, and RO review and approval. Ensure warranty policies and procedures are executed and conduct yard checks for proper work scheduling. Triage unscheduled customer drive‑ins and communicate with customers to assign work appropriately. Track productivity and optimize shift performance. Manage and develop all personnel assigned, including performance management and training. Maintain customer relationships: issue resolution, satisfaction and retention, vehicle uptime, communication protocol, PM scheduling, breakdowns, and status updates. Direct reports in maintaining shop appearance and compliance with appearance standards. Recommend and oversee shop tooling and equipment needs and manage vehicle specifications and service processes. Inventory parts, enforce policies, and maintain required specifications. Conduct quality inspections of PM and repairs, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement local corrective actions. Ensure technicians are properly trained, quality assurance audits are performed, and continuous improvement programs are executed. Maintain documentation to meet local, state, federal, and customer requirements. Manage safety compliance and EPA regulations. Control costs: meet net maintenance cost per unit objectives, manage maintenance initiatives, budget, and location P&L statement. Administer payroll, purchase order approval, invoice and fuel reconciliation. Lead the customer bill‑back process and ensure accurate documentation and reporting of billable activity. Ensure data integrity in the Shop Management Online system. Perform any additional duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Professional representation of Ryder and competent interaction with customer management. Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge (preferred). Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Qualifications High‑school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred or 1‑3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment; Bachelor's degree preferred. Maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with a Shop Management System preferred. Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency. DOT regulated – no special licensing noted. Compensation Salary: $73,000 – $73,000 per year (base) plus bonus incentives. Compensation may also include commission and/or long‑term incentive plans based on role level.
