About the Position

Job Title: Step Down RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years License: Active Nursing License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, OCN, ONS/ONCC Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with Pyxis med system - Experience with EPIC documentation Description: Step Down RN position in an oncology facility. Floating between units is required. Weekend shifts are required. Proficiency in SBAR communication is necessary. Black scrubs are required (not provided). 48-hour orientation is included. The role involves managing cardiac telemetry and step down patients. Experience with dysrhythmias and their management is essential. Monitoring telemetry on the unit and remotely is needed. The RN will use rapid response and code teams as necessary. Feeding tube care and management is required. Continuous bladder irrigation care is also a responsibility. Experience with renal failure management and TURP procedures is important. Skills in administering and managing blood products are necessary. Central and peripheral line care and management are required. Phlebotomy skills are essential. PICC line management and IV initiation and maintenance are required. Knowledge of heparin protocols is important. The RN will manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration. Experience with PCA and procedural sedation administration and monitoring is needed. Knowledge of thrombolytic agents is necessary. Administration of chemotherapy and monitoring for adverse reactions is part of the role. Skills in managing peripheral nerve block catheters are required. Experience with mastectomy and skin graft care is important. Management of surgical drains and BiPAP/CPAP is necessary. The RN will provide care for ventilated patients. Knowledge of chest tube management is required. Non-invasive airway management skills are needed. Oxygen administration and management of oxygen tanks is essential. Tracheostomy care and management are required. Understanding of isolation precautions and PPE is important. Wound care and the use of wound vacs are necessary skills. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. The unit typically has a daily census of 17 patients.
