Registered Respiratory Therapist

The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services. Responsibilities include administering all aspects of respiratory therapy and supportive equipment as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual. Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction for the treatment, management, and evaluation of patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies is essential. Intubation assistance and ventilator set-up and management are key responsibilities. Gathering information necessary for proper patient evaluation, including disease education and testing, is required. Developing rapport with patients and caregivers, as well as team members, fosters an optimal environment for goal achievement. Education and documentation for patients and caregivers based on identified needs is vital. Other duties and projects may be assigned. Adherence to organizational competencies and standards of behavior is expected. Physical requirements include lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Regular contact with medical personnel is necessary.
