Pay Range: Targeted salary $60,500 annually, based on experience Benefits Eligible: Yes Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel: Not required Position Introduction Goddard Health Center is the ambulatory care facility on the Norman campus, providing primary care services to students, faculty, staff, and their dependents. Performs professional nursing duties such as physician assistance, sample collection, information gathering, patient follow‑up, data collection, medication administration, collaboration, patient education, emergency response, and patient preparation. Job Duties Perform nursing procedures: EKGs, audiograms, pulmonary testing, vision testing, ear lavages, allergy serum injections, wound care, and administering IV fluids. Collect samples from patients including blood, urine, etc. and prepare samples for analysis or shipment. Record various readings such as heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, body temperature, etc. Answer medical questions from patients, family, etc., both in person and on a dedicated nurse phone line. Collect all laboratory reports, data, and records. Under direction of a physician or other medical personnel, administer medication and injections to patients, including allergy serum injections. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide efficient quality patient care. Provide educational information to patients, family, etc., including travel health education and consultation. Respond to and intervene in emergencies such as anaphylaxis, hypoglycemia, hypotension, respiratory distress, etc. Act as a lead employee when work performed requires little or no direct supervision. Perform general health assessments and triage patients for priority care; order tests or procedures per protocols. Administer vaccines, including influenza, COVID‑19, childhood immunizations, and travel immunizations; coordinate flu immunization clinic. Manage inventory, including supply ordering. Maintain procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste and drugs. Perform various duties as needed to fulfill the function of the position, including but not limited to infection control, employee health, travel consultations, special clinic coordination, staff training, and in‑service presentations. Skills Advanced knowledge of techniques needed to diagnose and treat illness or injury related issues, including treatment alternatives, drug properties, and preventative health care measures. Advanced knowledge of HIPAA. Ability to give full attention to what is being said and understand the points being made. Ability to ask questions when appropriate. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to deal with staff, physicians, visitors, vendors, and patients in a tactful, diplomatic, and pleasant manner. Ability to work in stressful situations and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Basic math and computer skills. Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information. Well organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to build and maintain rapport with students, faculty, staff, and providers. Ability to solve problems. Required Education Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Nursing. Required Certifications and Licenses State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse Licensure or the ability to obtain the licensure within 90 days of employment in the position. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Department Preferences 25 months or more experience in clinical setting.
