Property Accountant

Location: Fairfield County, CT

Responsibilities Include:

Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and reports for real estate properties
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and property accounts
Update supporting workpaper schedules that detail out the key financial statement line items for financial statement preparation
Maintain records for leases, rent payments, and property expense payments and accruals
Prepare and post journal entries related to real estate transactions, including cash and accrual basis entries
Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing and compiling financial statement support for auditors, tax preparers and lender reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
1-3 years of accounting experience (prior experience in real estate accounting preferred, but not required)
Basic knowledge of GAAP accrual concepts and real estate accounting principles
Proficiency in real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or similar)
