M&J is seeking Construction Inspectors to perform daily inspection of construction activities to ensure compliance with Virgina Department of Transportation (VDOT) plans, specifications, and contract requirements. Responsibilities Perform daily inspection of construction activities to ensure compliance with VDOT plans, specifications, and contract requirements. Monitor contractor operations including grading, drainage, paving, bridge construction, utilities, and traffic control devices. Prepare Daily Work Reports (DWRs) documenting contractor activities, installed quantities, and inspection observations. Verify materials used on the project meet required specifications. Coordinate materials testing and verify results in accordance with VDOT procedures. Monitor maintenance of traffic operations in accordance with the VDOT Work Area Protection Manual (WAPM). Report construction issues to the Senior Inspector or Resident Engineer. Maintain accurate field documentation for project records. Qualifications Required Minimum 3–7 years of experience in transportation construction inspection. NICET Level I or II certification in Transportation Construction Inspection or Construction Materials Testing. ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification. Preferred Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Certification. OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training. ATSSA Traffic Control Technician (TCT) certification. VDOT materials testing certifications such as Soils and Aggregate Compaction or Asphalt Field Level I.
