Duties

Help

• Input schedules and timecards for Defense Health Agency employees.
• Utilize database software systems to assist employees in the resolution of payroll related problems.
• Coordinate with employees to obtain pertinent documentation required to resolve payroll issues.
• Act as the time and attendance point of contact for the Defense Health Agency civilian employees regarding questions and problems related to civilian payroll.
• Update the master employee record (MER) to maintain accuracy.
• Analyze historical payroll and time keeping data to detect errors for resolution.
• Provide technical authority on payroll issues or questions relating to timecard coding and pay issues.
• Use a variety of office automation systems to produce documents and reports.

• This is a Financial Management Level 1 position; This certification requirement is a condition of employment for this position. Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes processing employee payroll, leave, and timecard information using database software systems, analyzing payroll data to identify discrepancies for resolution, and providing assistance to employees with payroll related questions and inquiries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Accounting, Finance, or Business.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
