Registered Nurse (RN) Educator - Our Lady of Mercy

Job Overview We are looking for an RN Education Specialist for our 160‑bed facility located in Guilderland, NY. This is a full‑time position on a day shift. The role focuses on the clinical education of staff and infection control oversight. What You Will Do Design, develop, implement, orient, and evaluate all educational programs for paraprofessional/technical nursing support staff. You will also be responsible for the development and monitoring of infection control practices. Responsibilities Work collaboratively with nursing leadership in a consultative and matrix reporting relationship. Provide mechanisms for clinical follow‑up of application and generalization of knowledge/skills in resident care. Maintain accurate documentation/records of all orientation, in‑service, mandatory, and continuing education activities consistent with organizational, regulatory, and accrediting requirements. Collaborate with Clinical Specialist, Operations Managers, Billing, and Human Resources to ensure proper and accurate training. Develop, implement, and evaluate infection control practices. Maintain accurate documentation of infection control activities including immunizations of residents and staff as required. Provide professional development and education services in the clinical setting by assisting nurses in preparing for contemporary clinical practice and supporting them in acquiring knowledge and skills. Required Qualifications Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New York. Associate’s degree in nursing or a degree of nursing from an accredited school. 3 years or more of experience as an RN, preferably in skilled nursing. 2 years or more of experience as an RN in an educator or supervisory role. Preferred Qualifications Computer literacy and comfort utilizing multiple computer applications. MDS experience. Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Passion for caring for patients with a respectful, caring, professional demeanor. High level of customer service while completing day‑to‑day duties and responsibilities. Excellent communication in a fast‑paced work environment across teams on different shifts and in different departments (nursing, human resources, leadership). Strong engagement within a team setting. Mentorship skills educating RNs, LPNs, and CNA staff. Passion to learn, grow, and develop in the nursing field. Pay Range $83,200 - $109,844.80 per year, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
