CNC Operator I - Weekend Shift - Aerospace & Defense Industry!

SUMMARY

The CNC Operator I operates CNC machine(s) where no set up is required. Performs selected repetitive maintenance and housekeeping tasks, as necessary. Participates in problem solving activities and contributes to quality improvements. Actively promotes teamwork atmosphere and supports team development.

DESCRIPTION

Strives towards a culture of proactive safety Reviews set-up sheet and specification to review operating sequence of machine. Loads work pieces into machine in the instructed or directed manor, and unloads finished parts. Measures work pieces for conformance to specifications and documents it as required. Performs secondary operations as defined by traveler, using various machines/tools such as files, drill presses and sanders. Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to next operation/process. Understands and completes all paperwork. Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company. Reports any unsafe conditions and machine malfunction to set up person/Supervisor/Manager. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent One year of CNC experience preferred Basic math skills Ability to read measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, etc. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop travelers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Continuous mental and visual attention is required. Requires constant alertness or activity. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The noise level is usually very loud. The employee is required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and safety shoes.
