Head Coach – Track & Field / Cross Country Position Title: Head Coach – Track & Field / Cross Country Job Category: Limited Employment Type: Terminal (Fixed Term) Job Profile: Coach Department: Athletics Compensation: $65,000 – $71,000 Job Duties To lead the strategic direction of the men’s and women’s track & field / cross country program as the Head Coach, responsible for all operations and management of the program, including scheduling, budgeting, recruiting, fundraising, practice and game planning, student‑athlete development, monitoring academic progress, hosting camps and tournaments, and community engagement. All work will be done in accordance with university, conference, and NCAA regulations. A willingness and flexibility to work nights and weekends is required. This position is a campus security authority and mandatory reporter as defined by federal and state law. Key Job Responsibilities Administrative Management (30%) Execute all responsibilities in accordance with NCAA, UW‑Parkside, University of Wisconsin System, and UW‑Parkside Foundation policies. Monitor and proactively support academic success of student‑athletes. Commit to operating all aspects of the program in compliance with NCAA rules. Collaborate in planning and execution of team travel. Collaborate with strength and conditioning coaches on program development. Attend staff meetings, compliance education sessions, and development opportunities. Lead budget management and revenue generation, including camps, clinics, and tournaments. Represent the athletics department with campus groups. Represent UW‑Parkside with GLIAC and NCAA. Understand and adhere to NCAA Bylaw 11; report violations to avoid disciplinary action. Perform other duties as assigned. Leadership & Fundraising (20%) Assist in overall management, leadership, and execution of the program, fostering a positive environment. Demonstrate a positive team‑player attitude. Assist with fundraising and alumni engagement efforts. Coaching, Recruiting & Player Development (50%) Plan, organize, and manage all functions within program operations. Develop and implement game strategy and techniques. Schedule and supervise practice sessions and meets. Recruit student‑athletes. Maintain discipline and conduct of student‑athletes to support program image. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Two years of experience coaching high school or track & field / cross country. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Three years of experience coaching college track & field / cross country. Experience with the college/student‑athlete recruiting process. Experience as a head coach at the collegiate level.
