We have an exciting opportunity for a Cleaning Mech TechIII in our Operations & Test Division. This is a JETSII CBA position with Amentum. Responsibilities The Cleaning Mech / Tech III will: Disassemble, clean, and reassemble components and assemblies to meet specified cleaning standards or instructions. Work independently or with another technician on complex tasks or training. Maintain and operate under clean‑room standards. Provide technical guidance to customers and log data for work performed, delivering reports or data to customers. Bag and tag items to maintain cleanliness and track flight and non‑flight purposes. Train less experienced technicians and verify work as required. Prioritize tasks with a supervisor and/or assign work to other technicians. Assist with lab inventory, receive and ship customer items, and interface with quality inspectors as required. Provide technical leadership to less experienced technicians. Familiarize and maintain all cleaning equipment at the resident location, including consumable loading and re‑ordering. Perform related duties as required. Qualifications 12 years of prior clean‑room experience or in a related area. Proficient knowledge of cleaning processes and standards, including abrasive, chemical (solvent based), and ultrasonic methods. Expertise in clean‑room protocols and maintenance procedures (sticky pads, filter change, etc.). Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Proficient with the handling of NASA flight hardware. Experience in maintaining inventories and completing purchase requests for materials/consumables. Leadership experience and ability to provide technical guidance. Knowledge of NASA and JSC cleaning specifications, cleaning processes, and quality control procedures. Occasional climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, or structures above or below ground level. Hearing with or without correction. Bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, or crawling from one to 30 minutes at a time. Reaching for and manipulating objects and materials in all directions. Frequent lifting up to 20 pounds from ground or waist level. Constant coordination of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment. Carrying up to 20 pounds for 20 yards. Standing and seeing with or without correction. Follow set procedures and standards, plan work, and select proper tools. Follow written and oral directions, plans, and blueprints. Picture and evaluate solid objects from drawings or diagrams using measurable or checkable standards. Recognize and report safety hazards. Wear PPE and clothing for a clean‑room environment. Respirators may be used when filling or using chemical. Work Environment Typically a clean‑room environment with exposure to various noise levels caused by power tools, machinery, equipment, etc. High noise area in the ultrasonic cleaning area. Equipment and Machines Operate and maintain chemical vats, pumps, ultrasonic cleaners, compressed air, purified water, wash tanks/sinks. Ultraviolet lamps, magnifying lenses, and other visual inspection tools. Flame ionization or other volatiles detectors. Particulate‑controlled equipment such as vent hoods, flow benches, Millipore equipment, etc. Heat sealing machines for bagging/wrapping. Computer workstations and peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, and print documents. Other office machines (printer, fax, etc.). Attendance and Schedule Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements is required. The position may provide a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) when applicable. Other Essential Functions Must work in a team atmosphere. Must demonstrate professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk.
