Legal Billing & Accounts Receivable ManagerAscension Global Staffing & Executive Search is partnering with a well-established, fast-paced law firm to find an experienced Legal Billing & Accounts Receivable Manager. This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned billing professional to step into a leadership role, work directly with firm leadership, and take full ownership of the firm's billing and receivables operations.This is a hands-on management position overseeing the complete billing cycle, from time and expense review through invoice generation, electronic submission, payment application, and collections. Insurance defense billing experience is highly preferred.What You Will DoManage the full legal billing cycle, including time entry, expense review, prebills, proformas, final invoices, and payment applicationPrepare and distribute monthly invoices across attorneys and practice groupsReview prebills for accuracy in time, descriptions, rates, discounts, expenses, and supporting documentation, and coordinate attorney approvals and revisionsManage electronic billing submissions across multiple platforms and client-specific portalsTrack and resolve rejected invoices, appeals, deductions, short payments, and submission errorsPrepare customized invoices for insurance carriers, insured clients, third-party administrators, and institutional clients, ensuring compliance with carrier and outside counsel guidelinesMonitor accounts receivable, aging reports, unapplied payments, and outstanding balancesLead collection efforts on overdue accounts and partner with attorneys and firm leadership on collection strategyServe as the point of contact for client billing questions, discrepancies, and account inquiriesPrepare weekly and monthly billing, collections, and AR reports, and support month-end and year-end financial reportingIdentify process gaps and develop improved billing and AR proceduresTrain attorneys, paralegals, and staff on timekeeping and billing best practicesProvide guidance and oversight to billing and accounting staffWhat You Bring7+ years of legal billing experience, including prior law firm billing experience (required)Management or supervisory experience in legal billing, accounting, or accounts receivable (strongly preferred)Insurance defense billing experience (highly preferred), including work with carriers, TPAs, claims representatives, and insured clientsStrong command of LEDES billing, litigation billing guidelines, e-billing portals, billing reductions and appeals, short pays, and write-offsAdvanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, TRIM, CONCATENATE, and data reconciliationProficiency in Outlook, Word, and legal billing/accounting softwareExceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and sound judgment with confidential financial informationExcellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlinesPreferred Software ExperienceElite, Aderant, ProLaw, SurePoint, BillQuick, eBillingHub, CounselLink, Legal-X, LEDES billing systems, and client-specific e-billing portalsWhat the Firm OffersCompetitive compensationFully remote work environmentExcellent benefits package401(k) eligibility after six monthsA professional, collaborative team cultureDirect access to firm leadershipGrowth and expanded responsibility
