Machine Operator (Swing Shift)

JOB TITLE: MACHINE OPERATOR (Food Packaging) Location: Woodland, CA (next to Sacramento) Schedule: Swing Shift FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly Base Pay: $20.00+ (+ $1.25 swing shift differential) PLUS $3000.00 sign on bonus, paid at increments of 1000 after 60 days, 6 months and 1 year

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

InHarvest is hiring a food packaging Machine Operator to work out of InHarvest’s Woodland, CA location (next to Sacramento). The Machine Operator is responsible for the daily operations of the line(s) by communicating with plant employees and ensuring the machine produces high quality products, runs smoothly, safely and efficiently. In this position it is critical to comprehend and understand the importance of; and follow all safety policies, protocols and procedures while working. The Machine Operator works under the direction of the Production Supervisor. We are looking for a professional, hardworking, genuine person experienced in working with fast‑paced bagging machines such as Hayssen & Yomato and with the vertical form, fill, and seal packaging process. Experience as a Roasting, Toasting or Blending Operator (any kind of blending), is an added value. Must have physical and mental stamina and enjoy working at a quick pace while being on your feet performing repetitive physical movements. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

We provide a safe, clean and dry (no washdown) work environment. The noise level is moderate (for the average person). You will be working with equipment and around machinery and forklifts. Indoor temperature fluctuates based on the outside temperature. Personal Protective Equipment (bump cap, ear plugs, safety glasses, hair/beard net, gloves, smock, steel toe boots) must be worn while working.

WORK HOURS:

40 hours a week, Monday-Friday (plus overtime). Swing Shift start times can be anywhere from 1:30pm-3:30pm. Typical shift is 10 hours. It can increase to 12 hours & on occasion slow to 8 hours. Must be flexible with start and end work times & available to work Saturdays when required. Time off requests are considered when the schedule is created.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform high quality work with little to no errors Be conscious and aware of your work and work surroundings Learn and understand all equipment in the plant from the production to shipping Carry out instructions given by Production Supervisor Communicate with team members to ensure a quick and efficient production line with high-quality products across all machines Safely operate and run lines Accurately calculate blending percentages Set up, changeover and inspect production equipment for proper start up Assist in cleaning machinery, production area and packaging equipment to prepare for production runs Confirm packaging line is correctly assembled and all equipment is adjusted and functioning properly Completely and correctly fill out production sheets and quality sheets Confirm correct film, carton, box, labels, etc. are being used for the product Diligently check the quality of packaged product(s), as required Fill in where equipment has failed; until it is fixed Correct all equipment problems & quality issues quickly and efficiently to minimize product loss Quickly notify maintenance of equipment problems Isolate product that may cause a food safety hazard or does not meet InHarvest standards; document and notify the Quality Assurance department and Production Supervisor Work well independently and within a team to complete projects and accomplish the goals of the department and InHarvest Interact with plant workers in a manner which fosters positivity, good teamwork and cooperation and ensures an efficient and productive operation Perform and ensure other plant workers work in accordance with InHarvest, state and federal food and safety standards, policies, rules, regulations and procedures Assist in other areas of production, warehouse and/or lab when needed Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

At least 18 years old No wheat or gluten allergies or sensitivities High School Diploma or equivalent Speak, read and write English Experience in food manufacturing Intermediate math skills which include calculating percentages Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, Food Plant Security, Glass and Hard Plastic Procedures and OSHA Safety programs Flexible with schedule changes, shift rotations, working Saturdays and overtime Mechanically inclined: able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain equipment Effective technical, solution‑solving, scheduling, coordinating, multi‑tasking and organizational skills Eye for details, works thoroughly, tends to catch mistakes or notice what others missed Grounded, reliable and follows-through Effective interpersonal skills and follows instructions well Able to adapt quickly and shift priorities Pass all drug, visual, audio, physical tests and background check

ADDITIONAL VALUABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
