Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

GDMS has an immediate opening for a passionate, experienced Strategy and Business Development Capture Manager (SBDCM) focused on strategic growth activities. The SBDCM will lead the customer relationship building and market assessment activities for critical strategic growth initiatives at General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), including cultivating key U.S Government customers and industry partners, performing competitive and market assessments, and leading the development of long-range strategic plans. The position reports to the Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for the Maritime and Strategic Systems Line of Business within GDMS, directly supporting the Vice President of Advanced Programs, and provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s most critical national defense priorities. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Directs business development activities for select strategic new business efforts.Execute as Capture Manager for critical Strategic Growth opportunityKey business partner for strategy and growth with the Advanced Programs Vice President, as well as the Strategic Mission Systems Business Area Vice PresidentsMaintains key business development contacts with current and potential customersEvaluates and manages new business opportunities, initiatives, partnerships, alliances and/or joint venturesOversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needsDefines vision, strategies, and tactics for the business area and any assigned business development opportunitiesAdvises higher management on status or action required in connection with existing and potential business development opportunitiesDevelops and administers schedules and performance requirements; responsible for new business fund budgetsProvides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectivesDevelops strategic plans by identifying internal and external strategic issues that could affect growth and profitabilityScans environment for business opportunities, maintains surveillance over marketMaintains awareness of competition offerings and applicability to Strategic Growth effortsDevelops and monitors profitability, productivity and growth targetsDrives analysis of market data to identify trends/opportunities and develop strategic direction from market informationDirects the development of short- and long-range objectives and recommends goals to higher management. Drives long range strategic plan and annual strategic planning processHas overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methodsKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Active DoD TS Clearance with SCI eligibility required; Active SCI desirable as wellProven, relevant and current acquisition and/or operational experience with the US Strategic Command and Undersea Warfare communities is strongly desired.Requires a technical background in undersea acoustic sensors and systems to ensure business decisions can be vetted and optimal solutions are presented to potential customers.This job requires both strategic and tactical capabilities and requires substantial leadership in customer relationship management and market analysis, as well as an ability to work independently.Demonstrates deep and broad experience in having defined and executed successful strategies to grow businessAble to articulate examples of having identified, pursued and won large capture efforts in areas related to Strategic Deterrence and/or Undersea Warfare programsPossesses broad market awareness, to include budgets, customer priorities, mission gaps and market dynamicsMaintains tremendous knowledge of government contracting and acquisition practicesAble to thrive in a highly interactive team environmentDemonstrates exceptional interpersonal, communication, collaboration and leadership skillsRecognized ability to build relationships with senior level customers and internal counterpartsWorks well under pressure with the ability to simultaneously deliver on multiple tasks and/or priorities.Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives; results assessed from a relatively long-term perspectiveExpected to make final decisions in conjunction with the Executive Team on business, operational or programmatic matters and leads effective achievement of objectivesParticipates in company development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and peopleEnsures budgets and schedules meet company requirementsWorks on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company and the marketRegularly interacts with executives and major customersConducts business and technical briefings for senior and top management and for external representativesInteractions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers, partners or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organizationExerts considerable influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organizationPerformance metrics visible at the GDMS and line of business levelErroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operationsIdentifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovationPosition can be located from our Pittsfield or Dedham, MA, Greensboro, NC, Chantilly or Manassas, VA or Washington DC offices. Remote or Hybrid schedules could be considered as well. Role will involve significant domestic travel up to 50% of the time, so candidates must be willing and able to travel in support of customer and distributed team engagement. #LI-Hybrid#LI-TM1

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $203,851.00 - USD $220,574.00 /Yr.
