Rehabilitation Unit Patient Care Technician (PCT)Join our team as a day shift, part-time Rehabilitation Unit Patient Care Technician (PCT) in Topeka, KS.Thrive in a People-First Environment and Make Healthcare BetterWe empower our team with career growth opportunities, tuition assistance, and resources that support your wellness, education, and financial well-being.We prioritize your well-being with paid time off, comprehensive health benefits, and a supportive, inclusive culture where you are valued and cared for.We use advanced technology to support our team and enhance patient care.The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus, a part of a rich legacy of compassionate care since 1909, now offers 378 licensed beds, a history of innovation, and strong community support.ResponsibilitiesThe Patient Care Technician collaborates with licensed nurses to support the safe and compassionate delivery of patient care in a healing environment.Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the PCT performs delegated tasks and demonstrates advanced skills in providing care to age-specific patient populations.Responsibilities include recording data in accordance with policy, reporting patient observations and concerns, and assisting with both clinical and non-clinical duties.Key tasks involve obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding, collecting lab specimens, and supporting patient monitoring.In addition to proficiency in general areas of practice, the PCT completes advanced unit-based competencies and skill validations, enabling them to perform their job functions as assigned.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification program, or senior nursing student with less than one semester left in the nursing program.For emergency room departments, an EMT Basic certification may substitute for CNA/PCT certification; paramedic license may fulfill certification requirements.Must maintain active certification in the State of Kansas.BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.Annual completion of training, education, and competencies for any additional duties required.Preferred Job Requirements5 years of experience in acute or long-term care settings.Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.Competency in at least two general areas of practice (cross-trained and capable of performing multiple hospital services, roles, or functions).
