About the American Society for Surgery of the Hand The American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) is a prestigious, professional medical society with a membership of more than 5,500 surgeons and healthcare professionals. The mission of ASSH is to advance the science and practice of hand and upper extremity surgery through education, research, and advocacy on behalf of patients and practitioners. ASSH provides educational opportunities for surgeons in the form of webinars, online resources, courses/meetings, textbooks, practice examinations, medical journals, and communities. ASSH also fosters basic science, clinical, and outcomes research grants, and provides hand surgery to underserved communities around the world. Salary: $54,000 - $58,000 annually Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 2 days per week in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) Work Authorization: We are unable to offer sponsorship for employment authorization to work in the United States. Job Summary The IT & Systems Analyst is ASSH's primary hands‑on technology resource and first point of contact for staff IT needs. The role is responsible for end‑user support, account and access administration (onboarding and offboarding), infrastructure and security operations, Tier‑1 application support for Salesforce/AMS and the website, and onsite event technology. This is an execution‑focused operations role that works under technical direction set by the CTO and IT Analyst, with a defined growth path toward systems administration. Responsibilities End-User Support & Helpdesk Serve as first responder for staff IT issues (hardware, software, printing, connectivity, accounts) and resolve orescalate promptly. Maintain office technology: network (Meraki), Wi‑Fi, printers, conference‑room AV (MeetingOwl, ClickShare), and the8x8 phone system. Document common issues and maintain staff self‑help guides. Serve as first‑line contact for IT vendors and service providers and track support cases through to resolution. Account Administration: Onboarding & Offboarding Provision new staff across Microsoft365 (distribution lists, shared calendars and mailboxes, aliases, MFA and authentication methods), Salesforce (user account, Community Hub account, time‑off records),8x8 (account, phone number, voicemail), Box, Slack, the website account, and endpoint protection (Bitdefender); configure optional tools (Zoom, Claude, Adobe CreativeCloud, Notion) as needed. Offboard departing staff: disable access across all systems (including Zoom), convert orredirect mailboxes, set autoreplies, transfer files, and reassign approval workflows. Maintain the onboarding and offboarding runbooks. Administer AI tool licenses and access (e.g., Claude); provision accounts, onboard staff, field day‑to‑day questions, and relay usage feedback to the CTO. Infrastructure & Security Administer MFA and password standards and carry out periodic access reviews. Maintain endpoint protection (updates, encryption, antivirus) and support security reviews. Administer the Barracuda security suite (email protection and threat filtering, plus related modules): apply the configured policies, monitor, and respond to alerts. Maintain DNS and domain records (e.g., Cloudflare) for email and web services. Apply IT and security policies consistently as set by the CTO. Own the laptop and tablet inventory: eligibility, procurement, deployment, reformatting, refresh, and retirement or resale. Handle vendor returns and RMAs (e.g., Lenovo) and keep asset records current. Administer email deliverability (authentication, Sender Authentication Package, blocklists, sender reputation), triage spam and phishing reports, and maintain distribution lists, groups, and listserv settings. Provide Tier‑1 application support: data uploads and exports, routine configuration, sandbox and staging refreshes, and basic administration cases with vendors. Make routine website and CMS content updates and simple display fixes. Support the IT Analyst with Salesforce Flow automations, n8n workflows, and AnnualMeeting integrations: assist with testing and QA (writing test cases, running regression checks in sandbox/staging), monitor automation run health, and resolve orescalate routine failures. Support Annual Meeting and event technology under the CTO: onsite registration setup, badge printing, videography, and network and AV support. Required Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience. 2-4 years in IT support, helpdesk, or systems administration. Working knowledge of Microsoft365 administration. Comfort with security fundamentals (MFA, identity and access management, endpoint basics). Familiarity with a CRM or AMS (Salesforce preferred) at an administration or support level. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to email deliverability and authentication, DNS, vendor management, or AI‑tool administration. Experience building or testing workflow automations (e.g., Salesforce Flow, n8n) and a quality‑assurance mindset. Basic scripting or query comfort (e.g., SOQL, Workbench, simple automation). Software development is not required. You’ll be the in‑office anchor for ASSH’s technology – the person staff turn to first for hands‑on support with hardware, network, AV, and events. Hybrid arrangement, with collaboration tools and secure access to company systems provided for remote work. Travel Requirements Occasional travel may be required for training sessions, meetings, or conferences. Travel is within the U.S. and is estimated to be up to 5% per year.
