Role Overview and Responsibilities IntroductionThe Manufacturing Area Manager II is accountable for the safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and overall operational performance of assigned manufacturing departments. This role is responsible for monitoring and improving key business metrics, leading corrective actions to address performance gaps, ensuring the consistent execution and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, supporting complex production environments, and partnering with Engineering to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions.Position Scope:Responsible for leading a manufacturing department consisting of approximately 8-20 Team Members.Responsible for the day-to-day execution of operational objectives within an assigned functional area.Ensures effective execution, adherence, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes within assigned operations and production cells, in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering.Supports short- and medium-term production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation activities across all shifts within the assigned operations.Leads improvement projects of moderate to high scope and complexity focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, process capability, and cost performance.Develops and implements process improvements to support quality, efficiency, throughput, and manufacturability objectives.Supports the development of new manufacturing processes and production methods within complex manufacturing environments.Partners with Engineering to develop, improve, and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions, process flows, and other manufacturing documentation.Uses structured problem-solving methodologies and data-driven decision making to identify opportunities and resolve operational and technical issues.Works cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Customer Support to achieve business objectives.Maintains awareness of customer requirements and supports customer-related activities as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Direct, administer, and control day-to-day operations and activities of assigned departments.Provide leadership, support, coaching, and guidance to Production Team Members.Own departmental performance metrics and drive actions to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, efficiency, and cost objectives.Monitor, analyze, and communicate KPI trends and implement actions to improve results.Ensures effective execution and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes within assigned areas to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, efficiency, quality, process capability, and operational effectiveness.Support improvements in OEE, labor efficiency, first-pass yield, on-time delivery, and process stability.Diagnose manufacturing, quality, process, and technical issues; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to resolve constraints and improve manufacturing performance.Assist in the development, validation, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes.Support new product introductions, process changes, and manufacturing readiness activities.Partner with Engineering to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and manufacturing process documentation.Ensure compliance with TT Electronics policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality system requirements.Develop talent through coaching, performance management, training, and succession planning.Maintain production records and documentation and perform other assigned duties.Typical Allocation of Responsibilities:People Leadership, Administration, Safety, and Team Development: 25%Quality Management, Process Ownership, and Continuous Improvement: 40%Production Planning, Scheduling, and Supply Chain Coordination: 28%Customer Support and External Communication: 7% Qualifications, Skills and Attributes Qualifications:Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or seven (7) years of technical manufacturing experience.Required: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Required: Experience leading teams, projects, or operational activities.Required: Experience using production metrics, process data, and technical analysis to drive results.Required: Demonstrated experience with process improvement, problem-solving, and manufacturing process development.Preferred: Prior supervisory or leadership experience in electronics manufacturing.Preferred: Experience in aerospace, regulated, or high-reliability manufacturing.Preferred: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, or higher certification.Preferred: Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.Preferred: Experience developing manufacturing processes, SOPs, and Work Instructions.Preferred: Experience supporting complex manufacturing environments and new process implementation.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong leadership, coaching, and talent development skills.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process control, and operational excellence methodologies.Ability to interpret and utilize operational and process performance metrics.Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving capabilities.Ability to identify, develop, and implement manufacturing process improvements.Experience utilizing structured root-cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn ERP/MES systems.Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and quality management principles.Ability to develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including SOPs and Work Instructions.Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Quality, Operations, Planning, and Supply Chain functions.This is position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
