JOB SUMMARY:

This Senior Finance Representative role supports the Caterpillar Financial offices in Latin America. Key job responsibilities include: funding, interest rate risk management, foreign exchange hedging, supporting business plan development, among numerous other responsibilities. The candidate will have extensive interaction with finance personnel located in the Caterpillar Financial Latin America offices.

Formulate, propose and implement interest rate risk and debt funding strategies for Latin American subsidiaries in support of the corporate business plan. Review and recommend cash management structures for Latin American subsidiaries. Coordinate and track intercompany loans. Investigate potential external funding solutions to reduce the cost of funds in Latin America. Provide other treasury related services as needed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs Asset/Liability management through analytical studies of the company's portfolio contents and consultation with investment and commercial banks. Subsequently formulates a proposed funding and hedging strategy. After discussion with the Senior Funding Manager and Treasurer, executes the trades or contracts necessary to implement the approved strategy. These strategies are aimed at achieving the most economical funding alternatives for Latin America while maintaining a prudent level of interest rate risk. 2. Maintains continuous contact with investment bankers acting as agents for local funding programs. This contact allows for continual assessment of market conditions and local regulations. 3. Maintains contact with investment bankers in order to assist the Senior Funding Manager in the selection, negotiation and documentation of new or amended local credit facilities or debt issuances. Executes drawings under established credit facilities as needed and assists the Senior Funding Manager in the selection of banking partners. Recommends opportunistic market entry points and negotiated terms of specific loans or debt issuances. 4. Maintains frequent contact with derivative product desks of the company's commercial bank group in order to assess and compare the economic opportunity to create synthetic debt or hedges as an alternative to straight debt issuance. Structures hedges for large fixed rate receivable transactions with principal repayment patterns not available in fixed income securities. Creates neutralizing swap transactions to maintain corporate match funding objectives or compensate for receivables, which pay off prior to their scheduled maturity. May negotiate Master Swap Agreements with counterparties and reviews transaction confirmations for approval and signature. 5. May negotiate and execute foreign exchange contracts in order to maintain the company's objective of zero foreign currency exposure on the consolidated balance sheet. 6. Oversees review, recommendation and implementation of new funding vehicles to broaden the company's liquidity access. 7. Ensures cash balances and account activity requirements are managed to maintain minimal balances at individual subsidiaries. Works with local subsidiaries and banking partners to establish the most efficient cash management solution within either the country or the region. Consolidates bank account activity where possible. 8. Involves a great deal of interface with the company's investment and commercial banking group. Relations with all segments of funding will be managed in a professional manner and all funding transactions will be executed punctually and accurately. 9. May assist in providing effective back up support to other Treasury department employees. 10. Participates in accomplishment of continuous improvement objectives for the department. Progress toward accomplishment of these objectives is measured through maintenance of necessary measurements and analysis of associated data. Participates in the identification of problem areas and development of resolutions to address them. 11. Understands the Harassment policy of the company and is responsible for its application in all aspects of employment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND KNOWLEDGE: 1. Demonstrated ability to read and analyze various business and financial reports. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply advanced math computation skills, statistical analysis and other mathematical concepts used in financial forecasting and modeling. 3. Ability to apply human relations skills. 4. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain banking and financial relations in a multi-cultural environment. 5. Demonstrated ability to research and understand the business requirements (tax, legal, financial, etc.) and political and cultural issues in the countries in which business is transacted. 6. Knowledge of Financial Accounting Standards and procedures. 7. Demonstrated knowledge of foreign currency exchange and banking systems. 8. Complete knowledge of discounted cash flow techniques and Financing Transaction Tax Laws. 9. Knowledge of commercial laws and regulations governing operations of CFSC. 10. Awareness of pending legislation, which would impact operations of CFSC and Caterpillar Inc. 11. Advanced knowledge of the finance and brokerage industry, risk management concepts and products, and funding platforms and strategies. 12. Advanced knowledge of economic statistics and their impact on the direction of financial markets and their impact on business globally. 13. Ability and willingness to travel on an international basis. 14. Ability to read, write and speak Spanish and/or Portuguese is beneficial.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A 4-year college or university degree in any discipline and a minimum of 5 years exempt experience in Banking, Treasury or Accounting with significant knowledge of finance/accounting practices is recommended. Previous exempt experience must be progressively increasing in responsibility and accountability and demonstrate an ability to gain in knowledge, skills, and responsibility such that a level of full competency can be reached. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.
