Senior Accountant

A growing real estate development organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of large-scale residential, mixed-use, and commercial development projects. This position will play a key role in the accounting and financial reporting process for active construction and development initiatives throughout South Florida.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience with development and/or construction accounting, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze general ledger activity and financial statements
• Prepare accruals, adjusting journal entries, and account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP
• Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and year-end workpapers
• Prepare and manage construction loan requisitions
• Review, code, and process contractor and vendor invoices
• Monitor project budgets and job cost activity
• Coordinate invoice approvals and oversee vendor payments
• Assist with annual audit processes and support external auditors
• Provide timely financial information to lenders, ownership groups, and business partners
• Ensure job cost transactions are accurately recorded and reported
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Public accounting experience highly preferred
• CPA or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply
• Development, construction, or real estate accounting experience is strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with ERP and reporting systems is a plus
