Electrician

Performs a variety of electrical trade functions, such as installing, maintaining, or repairing equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Requires rounded training and experience, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training experience .

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs tasks in accordance with work schedules and material requirements to ensure contract requirements are properly met Complies with safety, security, property and material management, as well as time and attendance policies Performs work in the most effective and efficient manner Accomplishes work in accordance with authorized Work Orders and contract requirements for response and performance Completes Work Order feedback in accordance with established procedures Maintains, enhances, repairs, and installs electrical system components including, but not limited to: Wiring systems Conduit systems Cable systems Conductors Switches, receptacles, outlets, and device plates Motor control centers Control switchboards and consoles Lightning protection systems Fixtures Electrical kitchen equipment Kitchen and building ventilating fans Sump pumps Garbage disposal units Electrical heaters in all applicable buildings, structures, and facilities. Provides temporary electrical service in emergencies by providing emergency lighting systems Tests circuits and loads Provides standby electrical services for special events Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit Pulls wiring through conduit Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment Installs control and distribution apparatuses such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels Connects power cables to equipment such as electric range or motor Installs grounding leads. Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, multimeter, voltmeter and oscilloscope Ensures functionality of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement Repairs faulty equipment or systems Assists Generator Technician in the performance of electrical tasks Assists in the procurement of parts and materials for job completion Performs other electrical duties within the scope of the position as assigned to support facility operations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED Must have one-year certificate from college or technical school; or minimum five years journeyman level electrician experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience with power generation equipment above 250 KW is preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Basic computer skills. Knowledge of confined space entry and lock out tag out procedures. Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in adverse situations Ability to safely utilize, operate, and maintain hand and power tools common to the electrical trade Ability to interpret and apply NEC, local codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings Knowledge of operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems equipment Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to stand, walk, sit for prolonged periods Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, reach, stretch, kneel, and squat. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks or motions for prolonged periods. Must have sufficient physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina to complete various tasks. Must have the ability to maintain assigned work hours. Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role requires work in non-office settings such as machinery rooms, electrical distribution centers, server rooms, and industrial locations. Work requires exposure to heat/cold, noise, dust, mist, and/or fumes. Required the ability to climb ladders and work at heights. Requires wearing personal protective equipment such, safety glasses, fall protection harness, protective-toe footwear, gloves, hard hat, and hearing protection. Work hazards include electrical shock, confined spaces, and noise hazards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid driver’s license Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) per contract. Must complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives. Must be proficient with the English Language per contract. Hourly Rate: $39.36 Indoor, uncontrolled climate with exposure to moving equipment, mechanical, chemical or biological hazards, confined spaces or heights The employee will be around moving machinery. The employee will be exposed to marked changes in temperature and humidity. The employee will be exposed to dust, fumes, and or gases. The employee will be driving frequently.
