Cambridge Capital/BGSA Controller Job Description

Seeking a rising star controller. The controller will report to the CEO and have significant finance, accounting and corporate governance responsibilities for the firm.

• Prepare and maintain all financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow, statement of shareholders equity, and general ledgers), ensuring adherence to US GAAP
• Maintain accurate record keeping of all firm expenses, providing proper documentation for expense and reconciliation reports. Manage AP and ensure bills are paid timely. Manage AR and ensure invoices are sent timely and collected effectively.
• Maintain GL and process all capital calls, investments, invoices and disbursements.
• Annual year-end audit, mark-to-market valuation process, tax return filing process, and filing of reports including Florida and Delaware corporation reports
• Review calculations and notices for capital calls, profit allocations, distributions, management fees due from portfolio companies and investors, and carried interest waterfalls
• Manage lender, tax, and regulatory compliance including SEC and Client
• Manage outside vendors including accounting, banking, fund administrator, audit, legal, insurance, compliance, and other financial service providers
• Negotiate D&O, E&O, and other insurance policies
• Tax planning review
• Support capital raising and investor due diligence

Evaluate financial merits of potential transactions

• Construct LBO models and financial analysis with sensitivities to evaluate multiple scenarios
• Collaborate with transaction team to build presentations and investment memoranda for lenders and equity investors
• Prepare funds flow, capitalization tables, and other supporting analysis

Qualifications / Skills

• Experience with core controller responsibilities, including financial reporting, fund accounting, GAAP, payroll, and all related activities
• Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product
• Disciplined with respect to auditing, GAAP accounting, and corporate finance
• Credibility, with high ethical standards, full disclosure, appreciation of the importance of confidentiality, and clean financial history
• Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all programs used by the organization, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
• Self-motivated, self-directed, and capable of functioning in an entrepreneurial and corporate setting

Education, Experience, and Requirements:

• 7+ years of relevant accounting
• 3+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
• Big 4 Audit Firm experience a plus.
• Experience at a private equity or venture capital fund is a plus.
• CPA certification
• Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
• Experience with financial reporting requirements
• Proficiency with Private Equity Fund Accounting and GAAP investment management reporting
