Job Summary
The Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in a healthcare facility in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing acute care for patients with a variety of diagnoses including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and behavioral health issues. The nurse will work with a team to deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment that requires clinical expertise and adaptability.

Job Details

• Schedule: 3-12 hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00, with every other weekend commitment and holiday rotation; minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Illinois nursing license or confirmation that an application has been initiated; active BLS certification; at least 1 year of nursing experience; understanding of EPIC electronic charting system; experience with central lines, tracheostomies, chest tubes; experience or travel experience on a Medical Surgical Floor; preferred candidates with EPIC experience and experience in a Level I trauma center.
• Special Notes: Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles; orientation includes 12 hours over 2-3 shifts; orientation is non-billable.
• Department: Adult Medical Specialty Unit with 56 private and semi-private beds; patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:4-5 during day shifts and 1:5-6 during night shifts.
• Certifications: BLS (AHA).
• Additional Responsibilities: Assist with vital signs, bladder scans, ADLs, and administering inhalers or suctioning using Bipap/Cpap equipment.
• Float: Rotation to other acute care general medical areas such as nephrology, neuro, ortho, or oncology may be required.
• Dress Code: Professional scrubs in any color; no visible tattoos or piercings except ears.
• Department-specific orientation: 2-3 shifts.
• Telemetry: Monitored remotely with Phillips monitors; RNs are responsible for reading their own strips.
• Shift Notes: Shifts are scheduled from 07:00 to 19:00 with weekend and holiday rotations.
