Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Sacramento, California. The position offers a stable company, weekly pay, and excellent benefits. Benefits $40.24 per hour Certification bonus of up to $700 for new ASE certification Quarterly bonus of up to $500 Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday, second shift 2:00 pm–10:30 pm State‑of‑the‑art diagnostics and tools On‑the‑job paid training Medical, dental, vision after 90 days 80 hours PTO in first year, starting day 1 Annual merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, boot allowance Safety‑first workplace and equipment Technical incentive competition: $250–$50,000 per year Veteran extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech, more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred) Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems) Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred) All other certifications required by location (required) Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire and pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test and background checks Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventative maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer, completing inspections and repairs with minimal supervision, replacing defective components, and working unsupervised on most tasks Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation Work in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Access and use internal and external maintenance documents Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220) and 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days Ryder is proud to be an equal‑opportunity employer and drug‑free workplace.
