Registered Nurse MAIN FUNCTION: Provides nursing care to patients in an efficient, professional, compassionate and caring manner. Directs the activities of paraprofessional as they provide care. Responsible for assuring effective communication with patients, support persons and members of the healthcare team. Responsible for implementing nursing care of assigned patients via the Nursing Process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Acts in compliance with hospital, Nursing Department policies/procedures and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Ohio. - Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and operation of temporary pacemakers and Intra- Aortic Balloon Pumps
- 1 year experience in Interventional Cardiology
- Required to scrub, circulate and monitor patients in the cath lab
- Knowledge of coronary and peripheral anatomy
- Knowledge of coronary and peripheral blood vessels and blood flow (venous and arterial)
- Takes on-call status
- Knowledge of sterile field technique
- Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and institute appropriate interventions
- 1-2 years working in an interventional cardiac/peripheral cath lab OR 5 years nursing experience in ED, PCU, or ICU.
- Cath Lab transport team experience

- Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of Vasoactive medications
- Prescribes initial target heart rates and exercise with in conjunction with exercise physiologist
- Ensures appropriate warm-up, exercise workloads, and cool down for each client
- Adjusts workloads according to observed or reported symptoms, or as requested by the exercise monitor
- Develops cardiac rehab teaching curriculum and implements lectures and materials and reviews / revises them every three months

- Minimum of 1 year current experience in hospital or clinical setting as an RN
- ACLS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position
- PALS within 1 year of completion of orientation and maintain while in position
- Complete NIH Stroke Certification with 6 months and maintain while in position
- Demonstrates competence in patient triage using the established method, within 6 months

- Quickly identifies signs and symptoms of Stroke and Acute Myocardial Infarction and follows appropriate protocols, policies and procedures to ensure goal times are met
- Answers the EMS line, obtains squad report and appropriately communicates the report to the Charge RN and ED Physician

- Fosters continuity of care between WHC and care taker (home, hospital, HH, etc)
- Prepares for clinic to enable accurate and complete updates to the physician
- Triages telephone calls and assists with scheduling
