Staff Accountant II

Title: Staff Accountant 
Company: Nonprofit Organization 
Compensation: $35-37/hr (DOE)

• Analyze financial transactions and perform detailed reconciliations of general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Prepare accurate journal entries and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Maintain schedules related to assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses to support accurate financial reporting.
• Review contracts and agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment and financial statement impact.
• Reconcile and maintain subledgers while ensuring supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing and providing required documentation.
• Partner with Finance colleagues and internal stakeholders to research accounting matters and support organizational initiatives.
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, streamline reporting, and strengthen internal controls.
• Provide guidance and knowledge-sharing support to less experienced accounting team members.
• Assist in coordinating assigned accounting projects, audit activities, and operational accounting processes to ensure deadlines are met.

• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience working with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
