JOB SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist will carry out an individualized program of physical therapy including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. The Physical Therapist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with other specialists. Reviews patients functional needs and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Designs and implements a plan of care for patients based on a thorough assessment of potential development and incorporates participation by significant others whenever it seems appropriate. Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care. Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients' functional goals. Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes. Practices hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans. Regularly updates documentation and maintains prescriptions and signatures. Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops. Keeps current with professional literature. Acts as a resource to promote physical therapy in the community. Perform related duties as assigned by management.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Meets dress code standards for the department; appearance is neat and clean. Checks hospital email a minimum of once per shift. Completes all mandatory education within given timeframe. Maintains regulatory requirements. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community. Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled. Attends at least 75% of staff meetings; reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes. Actively participates in the department’s quality improvement (QI) activities. Complies with all organizational policies, and employee handbook. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission, vision and values of the organization as well as the focus of the department. All Ferry County Health employees are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy, state and federal regulations, including not but limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program. Current Washington State license from the state Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. At least one year of experience as a physical therapist preferred. This is a safety sensitive position and subject to RCW 49.44.240(3)(g).

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, patients, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
