Orthopedic Resident Physical Therapist (PT)

SSM Health Physical Therapy, in partnership with Saint Louis University, offers a 12-month orthopedic physical therapy residency designed to advance licensed physical therapists in their orthopedics knowledge, skills, and attributes. The program accepts external applicants and internal applicants (current employees of SSM Health Physical Therapy). Our mission is to graduate physical therapists who embody the ideals of excellence through advanced integration of evidence into practice, enhanced clinical decision making, and reflective patient care.

Program begins August 5th, 2025.

Strong applicants will demonstrate the following:

• A commitment to lifelong learning including the pursuit of Board Certification in Orthopedics
• Professional interests include serving the uninsured or underinsured in an urban environment
• A desire to develop as an instructor for an entry level DPT program
• A history of clinical practice or clinical education experience(s) in the orthopedic setting (minimum of 10 weeks)
• Strong fundamental skills in the application of examination and treatment procedures
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities include participation in clinical practice, multiple weekly structured educational experiences, mentored patient care, teaching in Saint Louis University's Program in Physical Therapy, physician shadowing, and creation of a scholarly product.

Qualifications include recent graduates of APTA credentialed physical therapy programs or physical therapists new to the field of orthopedics seeking one on one mentoring. A current and valid Missouri licensure (or eligibility for Missouri licensure as a Physical Therapist) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification are required.
