Diesel Technician

As a Lead Diesel Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy-duty trucks, ensuring safety and reliability for our customers. Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues related to brake, air systems, electrical, HVAC, drive train and transmission, engine and exhaust, suspension, and steering systems. Engage with external manufacturers and warranty contacts to maximize reimbursement for services performed. Participate in annual training from Navistar and Cummins to stay current with industry standards and best practices. Complete repair orders efficiently and accurately, following dealership and factory guidelines. Collaborate with the parts department to obtain necessary components for repairs. Save and tag parts for warranty claims or customer requests as needed. Inspect vehicles to identify additional safety or service needs and communicate findings promptly. Work closely with service advisors to update on additional work requirements, changes, or delays. Document all work performed and recommendations on repair orders. Conduct road tests to verify the quality of repairs when required. Stay informed on manufacturer technical bulletins and updates. Report any equipment defects or malfunctions to supervisors. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and vehicles. Be responsible for dealership-owned tools and manuals, ensuring proper use and return. Comply with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations. Operate all tools and equipment safely and report any safety concerns immediately. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel technology or a related field. Possession of all State of Michigan HDT repair certifications.
