Job Description The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides a supervised, safe, therapeutic environment for the developmentally disabled, and/or mentally ill in long-term care and acute settings. This RN is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of both direct and indirect care. As an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, the nurse delivers patient and community-centered care, advocating for patients and their families by acting as a liaison and upholding their rights and beliefs. Utilizing evidence-based medical practices, the RN effectively manages unexpected and emergent situations, promptly addressing and treating a variety of injuries and illnesses with professionalism and expertise. Conduct physical assessments of patients, including psychiatric or admissions. Develop and implement individualized care plans. Participate in Treatment Team Meetings to maximize positive results through interdisciplinary care. Administer medications and monitor their effects. Provide therapeutic interventions and crisis management. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care. Manage delegated tasks to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Educate patients and their families about treatment plans and health management. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care. Advocate for patient rights and ensure a safe treatment environment. Initiate protocols for emergent situations where immediate action is necessary to prevent harm or injury. Respond to inquiries of family members, advocates and other interested parties, ensuring adherence to confidentiality laws and HIPAA regulations. Testify in commitment hearings when found appropriate and necessary. Qualifications Basic Requirements/Certifications : Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in inpatient Psychiatric Nursing. Minimum of one (1) year experience in all other areas assigned. Experience in an inpatient setting. Home health Psychiatric Nursing experience is not applicable. Education Required : Licensed in New Hampshire and have no record of prior or pending disciplinary action against him or her by the licensure body or agency. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Physical Requirements : Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment; involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require bending, stooping, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Other Special Qualifications : Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. Pass State of New Hampshire required background check. Additional Information Compensation | Min: $45.00 Max $55.00 Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
