Our Company is looking for long-term employees that we can invest in and grow with as we pursue our mission of being the premier commercial truck dealer group.General Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for learning the diagnosis and repair of all vehicles and equipment serviced by the Company's facilities. Apprentice Service Technicians are expected to learn how to perform with professional competence as it relates to quality of work, product knowledge, and customer service.This position is an entry-level position, intended to introduce employees to the demands and responsibilities of a Service Technician 1. This position will be evaluated on the ability to quickly learn and master the duties and responsibilities of a Service Technician within 1-2 years.The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.ResponsibilitiesLube TechnicianHelper and intermediaryEngines – Quick ServiceBelts/hosesSimple electricalRadiator flushing/servicingTransmission and DifferentialAdjust clutch (internal and external)Seal replacement (wheels differential and transmission)U-joint/drivetrainBrakes and AxlesBasic understanding of air systemsReplace brake shoes and drumsWheel seal replacementR&R brake valves (QC, relay, etc.)Brake adjustmentsElectricalService and R&R batteriesLoad test and replace alternatorsLight repairs, R&R assemblies and bulbs, simple wiringLoad test starter and R&RChassis and SuspensionReplace shocksInspect components and report findingsAdministrative ResponsibilitiesFollow shop policies and proceduresReport directly to supervisor 70-90% of the timeTyping detailed stories on repairs performedClean up shop bayMinimum Job Qualifications18 years of age.High school graduate or GEDMinimum tool requirements (see below).Minimum of 0-2 years of direct mechanic experience on heavy trucks or equipment – or a combination of experience PLUS vocational training, trade or technical school degree/certification of completion.Desired Job QualificationsHigh school graduate or GEDMinimum of 2 years of direct mechanic experience on heavy trucks or equipmentAbility to perform vehicle lubrication systems and D.O.T. safety inspections.Dependable team player with a positive attitude.Mental Capability RequirementsComprehension: Ability to understand complex problems, collaborate, and explore alternative solutions.Organization: Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.Reasoning & Decision Making: Ability to make decisions with moderate impact on immediate work unit.Communication: Ability to use and complete routine forms and/or conduct routine oral communication.Mathematics: Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret numerical data for reporting purposes.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
