Job Summary Alfa is looking for talented and motivated individuals to join as a Personal Lines Underwriter. In this role you will work closely with the sales force to evaluate and underwrite various personal lines products. Responsibilities Underwrite personal lines new business, rewrite new terms, and make policy changes while maintaining an acceptable loss ratio. Select, classify, and monitor insurance risks to maintain adequate rates for risk and ensure a profitable book of business. Maintain acceptable customer service standards and be thorough, consistent, and accurate in underwriting. Qualifications Hold a bachelor’s degree (required) or CPCU designation and have 5 years of insurance experience. Excellent communication and basic mathematical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Ability to understand policy language, underwriting rates, rules, and guidelines and make independent decisions. Must be able to apply all knowledge to underwriting personal lines business.
