Housing Specialist USVETS Inglewood - Inglewood, CA 90301 Salary Range $21.78 - $27.23 Hourly Level Experienced Position Type Full Time Job Shift Any Education Level 4 Year Degree Travel Percentage Up to 25% Category Nonprofit - Social Services About the Role The Housing Specialist supports homeless and at-risk veterans and their families in obtaining and maintaining stable housing through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. This role combines housing navigation, landlord engagement, documentation, and supportive services to help participants overcome housing barriers and move toward greater stability and independence. What You'll Do Housing & Participant Support Assess participants' housing needs, barriers, and progress and develop appropriate housing strategies. Help veterans and families identify, apply for, and secure safe and affordable housing. Support participants in maintaining housing and connecting to community resources and supportive services. Coordinate transportation to housing-related appointments, resources, and services as needed. Maintain participant confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries. Landlord & Community Partnerships Develop and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, housing providers, and community agencies. Identify available housing opportunities and recruit property owners willing to work with veterans facing significant housing barriers. Coordinate with SSVF case managers, VA personnel, and community partners to support participant housing and overall stability. Build professional relationships that expand housing options for veterans and their families. Program Compliance & Documentation Conduct rent reasonableness assessments in accordance with SSVF requirements and maintain supporting documentation. Obtain required housing and participant documentation for case files. Assist with temporary financial assistance payments in accordance with program requirements. Complete accurate and timely HMIS data entry and maintain case records. Track and report participant progress in accordance with program and funding requirements. Qualifications Requirements Bachelor's degree in social services field or a related field required A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirements Experience working with homeless and/or veterans preferred Strong oral, written and communication skills Strong organizational skills Ability to work within a team Computer proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet Valid driver's license required. Must meet company insurance requirements and complete a provided driver training course
