Job Overview Lead the team, solve the tough technical challenges, and keep industry moving in a highly visible service leadership role supporting some of the region’s most critical industrial operations. The Field Service Manager, is a supervisory position that isis a highly visible leadership role supporting Ingersoll Rand’s– Plant Air Centrifugal (PAC) compressed air business across California and Arizona. Working with major manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, and defense customers, this leaderbecomes a trusted resource when equipment reliability, uptime, and fast technical decisions matter most. You’ll lead and develop a team of PAC Field Service Technicians responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing sophisticated centrifugal compressed air systems. Just as importantly, you’ll help build the next generation of the regional service team through recruiting, hands‑on coaching, technical training, and technician development.This is not a desk‑only leadership role. The right candidate brings technical credibility, strong people leadership, and confidence in front of customers. You’ll work alongside technicians, ask the right diagnostic questions, guide complex troubleshooting, and help identify safe, practical solutions when standard parts or factory support cannot meet a customer’s timeline. Direct centrifugal‑compressor experience is preferred, but we also welcome candidates with strong backgrounds in industrial electrical systems, switchgear, automation, controls, PLCs, or microprocessor‑based equipment who are ready to expand their technical expertise. Based from Pomona, California, this hybrid position includes approximately 50% regional travel, with some overnight stays. Responsibilities Effectively attract, coach, counsel, train, develop, and retain all service employees. Drive continuous improvement through company performance management process and technical product training programs available. Develop employee skill levels, including customer service, process improvement, and technical skills to the highest degree possible. Collaborate with the service coordination function to respond efficiently to customers, ensure technicians’ training and skill level is appropriately matched to service customers, and ensure resources are effectively leveraged across the service area to maximize Service Technician utilization. This includes balancing customer requests for emergency repair, regular maintenance contracts, scheduled work and upgrades, installations, replacement components, and long‑term service agreements. Collaborate with the sales function to consult on service agreements; attend customer meetings to win new and grow existing; service business; provide service support for installations; and drive new service business through Service Technician generated leads, quotes, and requests for proposals. Maximize cash flow by ensuring invoices are generated immediately upon completion of work and warranty claims are filed accurately and timely, managing expense budgets, and increasing utilization of the service team. Ensure that standard service work processes are created and followed. Improve transactional processes impacting the customer experience and increase overall customer satisfaction. Effectively manage service team inventory to maintain accuracy, reduce year‑end write‑offs, and maintain SOX compliance through detailed reporting and regular cycle counts. Ensure environmental, health and safety compliance within service team. Provide training to all employees to ensure all service personnel follow and maintain safe and productive work habits in the shop, as well as at the customer site. Other duties as assigned to support the service business and ensure customer satisfaction. Requirements High School diploma or GED with relavant experience. 5+years’ experience in an industrial sales business setting. 3+years’ experience in supervising / managing teams of people, such as a combination of relevant experience coaching,trainingand mentoring as a peer– leader. Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI in the previous 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years. Core Competencies Advanced operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and other basic computer usage. Proficiencywithhand heldcomputer(i.e.Smartphone, iPad) and network bases. Advanced customer service skills including conflict resolution, communication, negotiation, etc. Strong customer communication and the ability to credibly explain technical findings, action plans, timing, and alternatives to sophisticated industrial customers. Resourcefulness, forward planning, safety orientation, and ability to source alternate parts, suppliers, rental equipment, and repair paths. Preferences Associates or Bachelors degree inengineering, engineering technology, business Management of processes and budgets Spanish-English bilingual capability; helpful for Mexico coverage Direct centrifugal-compressor/PAC experience Experience with PLCs, controls, microprocessors, event-log retrieval, software revisions, switchgear, or intermediate/high-voltage environments Experience supporting large automotive, aerospace/defense, or other high-value industrial facilities Travel & Work Arrangements Travel up to 50% withovernight stays;Company vehicle and gas cardis provided. This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling.It requires employees to regularly lift and or move weight limits in line with the safety policy. Ability to work in diverse conditions at times requiring interpretation or deviation from standard processes including but not limited to outdoor environments, mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage) with NFPA or equivalent standards. Pay Range: Total pay range for this role, including incentive opportunities, is $125,000 - $160,000. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that include a candidate’s skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
