LABOR-FIRE CONTROL

Department: 91 Reports To: Safety Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Worker Category: Full-Time / TEMP

SUMMARY : This position works to support the oil mill by preventing fires through a variety of tasks, consisting of maintaining the efficiency of fire hydrants and extinguishers along with preparing employees and departments on fire/emergency response.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : include the following:

• Diligently studies the fire prevention professional knowledge, earnestly carries out "Fire Rule
• Familiar with the main fire extinguishers and other equipment are located, and can skillfully use
• Be familiar with the procedures for handling Fires in all settings in relation to the oil mill.
• Work with Fire control supervisor, safety director, and supervisor to implement and improve upon emergency plans to ensure fires are correctly handled.
• Assist in directing staff to take effective fire-fighting measures.
• Responsible for the fire control room and equipment sanitation, at the turn of each cleaning.
• Keep the work area clean by sweeping, shoveling, picking up trash, etc.
• Operate heavy equipment to assist in fire prevention and additional yard maintenance.

• Assists in other areas as directed by supervisor.
• Must comply with all Plainsman Company rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
• Must comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations.

• Assist with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education; or up to one month experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Drivers license preferred.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, respirators, hearing protectors, etc., is required in designated areas.
