Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position at a Level 1 trauma center, requiring 2+ years of CVICU experience and BLS certification.

Details

• Acute care setting in a 20-bed, all-private, monitored Adult Cardiac ICU
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 2:1 depending on acuity
• Cares for post open heart surgical patients including CABG, valve repairs, dissections, AAA, and vascular procedures
• Manages complex cardiac cases such as STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, and TAVRs
• Utilizes specialty equipment including IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT
• Manages various lines including PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines
• Responsible for titrating multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, propofol, and heparin
• Utilizes EPIC EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday for night shift)
• Every other holiday required
• Float to every level of care with expectation to take a full team assignment
• Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7
• Respiratory therapists available 24/7
• All patients connected to Philips monitoring with monitor techs available

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• ACLS preferred; CCRN a plus
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Must be able to interpret cardiac strips and manage complex, high-acuity patients independently from day one
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and time management skills required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to critically ill cardiovascular patients including ventilated and overflow ICU patients
• Proficiency expected in all CVICU components except immediate post-op, VAD, and transplant care
• No particular scrub color required, but appropriate professional appearance expected; scrubs not provided
