PHP Developer

Role Description

Precision Resources is presently recruiting an experienced PHP Developer to design, build, and maintain the web applications and services for one of our clients. This person will be responsible for:

• Developing features end-to-end
• Contributing to architectural decisions
• Partnering with their Senior Web Developer on the systems that drive their business

This is not an entry-level position. This person should be comfortable:

• Shipping production code with limited oversight
• Debugging across the full stack
• Improving systems they didn’t originally write

This is a REMOTE position with the ability to attend occasional company meetings. The ideal candidate will be local to the Pittsburgh, PA area. Compensation is $75,000 to $90,000 with a full complement of benefits.

The Job includes:

• Designing, building, testing, and maintaining PHP/MySQL web applications and supporting services
• Diagnosing and resolving production issues
• Providing expertise and direction in the modernization of applications for improved performance, scalability, and reliability
• Collaborating with the development team on improvements to existing sites and on new initiatives
• Continuously researching, evaluating, and implementing new technologies to maximize development efficiency
• Working closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate these into technical requirements

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of professional web development experience
• Strong command of the LAMP/LEMP stack
• Solid front-end fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Experience with database management in MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres
• Comfort with Git and modern source-control workflows
• Track record of owning features from spec through deployment and maintenance
• Clear written and verbal communication — ability to explain a technical decision to a non-engineer
• Ability to accept a permanent position with US Citizen or Green Card. Applicants requiring sponsorship will not be considered.
