Position Overview
The District Manager (DM) is a dynamic leader responsible for driving operational excellence, team performance, and superior customer experiences across a portfolio of service locations - including car washes, quick lube centers, and retail convenience stores - within a defined geographic district. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role plays a pivotal part in achieving Spotless Brands' strategic growth, financial targets, and brand standards. The District Manager (Site Operations) collaborates closely with the District Manager (Lube) and District Manager (Convenience Store) to ensure alignment across all business lines. Together, these peer leaders are jointly accountable for driving overall site performance, team coordination, and seamless customer experience.
The District Manager ensures consistent execution of operational policies, facility standards, and service delivery across all sites. They lead, coach, and develop General Managers and Site Managers to maximize performance, build strong talent pipelines, and foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. This leader thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing tactical execution with strategic thinking to deliver business outcomes.
Success in this role requires frequent on-site presence, the ability to influence across all levels, and a relentless focus on people development, customer satisfaction, and profitable growth.

Essential Functions (Other Duties as Assigned) Operational Leadership & Financial Oversight
- Oversee the daily operations, sales, and profitability of multiple locations across an assigned district
- Ensure operational standards and compliance protocols are consistently executed across all business lines - including car wash, oil change, and convenience store operations - focusing on inventory control, service bay efficiency, merchandising, and retail cleanliness
- Administer and manage individual site budgets and overall district financial performance, ensuring adherence to labor targets, cost controls, and revenue goals
- Analyze operational trends across each service line and lead targeted operational improvement plans, addressing throughput times in car washes and oil change centers, shrink reduction in convenience stores, and upsell services across all locations
- Lead all district-level initiatives, projects, and campaigns to ensure timely execution and alignment with brand standards
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership, and operational discipline at all locations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and the needs of the business
- Hire, onboard, and train high-performing Site Managers and Managers-in-Training (MIT) in collaboration with HR and the Director of Operations
- Build and execute succession plans for critical site roles across the district
- Provide regular coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to direct reports, ensuring readiness for promotion and role expansion
- Address employee performance concerns and implement disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR and operational leadership
- Promote a people-first culture focused on accountability, inclusion, and professional growth
- Promote a "One Team" Spotless Brands culture across the district, leading change through consistent standards, collaboration, and team accountability
- Champion consistent, high-quality customer experience at every site including car wash, lube centers, and convenience stores by holding teams accountable to Spotless Brands' brand and service standards
- Manage escalated customer issues with professionalism and empathy, ensuring timely resolutions and reinforcing customer trust
- Lead district initiatives focused on improving customer satisfaction, loyalty, and service execution
- Encourage innovation and site-level engagement through team and individual contests or performance-based recognition
- Serve as the primary point of contact between site leadership and corporate support center such as HR, marketing, maintenance, etc.
- Partner closely with maintenance teams to ensure all sites are operational and meet safety and service expectations
- Communicate clearly with Director of Operations to provide updates on district performance, team development, and operational risks
- Ensure all locations comply with OSHA, company safety standards, and operational policies
- Enforce the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper inventory controls
- Monitor compliance with uniform policies, site cleanliness, and preventative maintenance schedules
- Provide ongoing safety training and compliance audits to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
- The core responsibilities of the District Manager remain consistent across all locations and while core duties do not change, the operational emphasis may vary slightly depending on the site type:
- Express Sites: Prioritize high-throughput exterior wash operations with a strong focus on speed, automation, and membership sales. These sites typically operate with smaller, leaner teams where direct leadership is essential.
- Full-Service Sites: Include both exterior and interior vehicle cleaning, requiring greater labor coordination and a higher-touch customer experience.
- Flex Sites: Combine full-service and express wash models and may include additional profit centers such as convenience store and/or lube center, requiring cross-functional coordination, broader staffing needs, and inventory management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of multi-unit management experience in retail, service, automotive, hospitality, or similar industries
- Proven track record of achieving financial goals and leading high-performing, customer-focused teams
- Experience managing full-cycle talent activities including hiring, development, performance, and retention
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the assigned district
- Must meet all required certification and regulatory compliance standards applicable to the role, as defined by federal, state, and local laws (e.g., fuel handling, food safety, alcohol/ tobacco sales, environmental safety, OSHA requirements)
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
- Deep understanding of multi-unit retail or service-based operations
- Knowledge of budgeting, labor management, sales forecasting, and Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability
- Strong familiarity with people development, succession planning, and HR best practices
- Understanding of safety, compliance, and environmental standards in a service-based or operational setting
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and performance management skills
- Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret operational and sales data
- Highly effective communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
- Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and operational reporting tools; familiarity with workforce management platforms a plus
- Ability to lead a geographically dispersed team while building strong relationships with trust
- Ability to influence without direct authority and create alignment across functions
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and travel within the assigned district
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, results-driven environment while managing multiple priorities
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform light physical tasks, including site walk-throughs and basic facility assessments
- Ability to travel frequently within assigned geographic territory or to company sponsored meetings, including driving for extended periods; travel approximately 60%
- Ability to walk, stand, and move, often uneven, moving and/ or wet surfaces through site
- Ability to stoop, crouch, bend frequently, and constantly using fingers, hands, and arms including occasional ascending and descending a ladder
- Ability to twist, carry, reach, push, and pull frequently
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds without assistance for work-related materials
- Ability to work outdoors and be efficient in all weather conditions
- Ability to work on your feet in a fast-paced, physically active environment
- Must be able to work in an environment with varying noise levels, including loud sounds from machinery, tools, or high-traffic areas
- Use of personal protective equipment (gloves, eyewear, etc....) as required
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as business needs or emergencies arise
