Associate Director, High School Program (NYC - FY27)

iMentor is seeking an Associate Director of Program (ADP) to join the regional program leadership team and oversee high school curricular preparation, implement high-quality programs, and maintain strong school partnerships. The ADP will ensure iMentor NYC achieves organizational outcomes and impact while working within schools in the New York City Department of Education. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of professional experience, including ≥3 years in an educational or youth services environment and experience in college access or success. Responsibilities Staff Management and Program Implementation Manage a team of 5-7 Program Managers to implement the iMentor high school program across 3-4 school partner sites. Oversee Senior PM projects and initiatives that build capacity for the Program Team. Cultivate a high-achievement, results-driven environment that supports the iMentor grade team model and meets programmatic outcomes. Ensure Program Managers run the iMentor program in schools, facilitate classes and events, and form relationships with key school stakeholders. Conduct site visits and support Program Managers in schools Tuesday–Thursday each week. Work additional evenings per week and provide event support for region-wide initiatives including mentor huddles/trainings. Support Program Managers as they provide cohort-level and individualized coaching to mentors working with students. Ensure direct reports perform case management responsibilities including advising, documentation, tracking and follow-up. Guide Program Managers to use data to track progress toward goals, identify interventions, and support cohorts. Utilize data and benchmarks to set goals and manage performance. Provide weekly supervision, differentiated coaching, and twice-annual performance reviews for all direct reports. Partner with college counseling services on campus to streamline the post‑secondary research, application and transition process. Monitor application and tracking of post‑secondary transition steps, including enrollment in iMentor’s Post‑Secondary Success Program. Ensure cohorts complete post‑secondary planning and college preparation checklists. Strategic Partner and Grade Team Leader Collaborate with the Senior Director of Program, Program Directors, and the National Program Team to support local trainings, planning meetings, and professional development opportunities. Support Program Directors in leading grade-level teams, ensuring Program Managers have the necessary training, materials and coaching to meet non-cognitive and college success goals. Lead onboarding and ongoing learning experiences across the region. Serve as liaison to partner schools (or team leads) through monthly reports, mid‑year and end‑of‑year meetings, and school recruitment. Help assess risk and ensure safety compliance across the program and region. Qualifications 5 or more years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in an educational or youth services environment and/or in college access or success. Experience managing or supervising staff in a performance-driven, fast‑paced, dynamic and diverse environment. Superior relationship development skills, partnership building and stakeholder accountability. Champion of organizational vision and driver of change processes, motivating and coaching teams. Strong organization and project management skills, balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting with a positive attitude. Skilled in quantitative analysis to monitor performance toward goals and develop strategies to achieve outcomes. Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate direct reports. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, departments and external partners to drive initiatives, mentor fundraising, experience and hiring. Self‑aware, authentic leadership using emotional intelligence to drive culture and inclusion. Strong interest in supporting youth in a results‑oriented environment and operating within a defined program model across schools. Build strong volunteer and student engagement practices to increase participation and accountability for mentors and mentees. Alignment with iMentor’s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Bachelor’s degree required. Compliance with district requirements, including background checks. Requirement to be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 per the NYC Vaccine mandate. Compensation & Benefits Salary $70,000‑$72,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Up to 100% employer-funded comprehensive medical and dental coverage. 18 days paid annual vacation (increasing annually to 21, 23, 25), 13 paid holidays plus birthday and one floating holiday, with iMentor closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day, plus 6‑7 sick days annually. 401(k) match up to 4%.
