- Configure, maintain, and optimize the Epic electronic health record (EHR) and related clinical applications.
- Develop and maintain templates, order sets, clinical documentation tools, and other system content.
- Analyze clinical workflows and recommend system enhancements to improve usability and efficiency.
- Support application upgrades, enhancements, patches, and system changes.
- Maintain system documentation related to workflows, configurations, and support procedures.
- Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and operational leadership to evaluate clinical workflows.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement standardized, scalable workflow solutions.
- Lead workflow redesign initiatives to improve patient care, documentation accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Support quality improvement, compliance, and regulatory initiatives, including MIPS and other reporting programs.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance provider satisfaction and clinical productivity.
- Provide advanced application support for clinical systems and workflow-related issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve clinical application issues in collaboration with IT and vendor support teams.
- Develop and deliver training programs for providers, clinical staff, and new employees.
- Create and maintain user guides, tip sheets, and workflow documentation.
- Support onboarding and ongoing education for clinical system users.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of clinical data within healthcare systems.
- Assist with operational, clinical, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support data validation, troubleshooting, and reconciliation activities.
- Collaborate with departments to improve data quality and documentation consistency.
- Assist with analysis of system data to support workflow optimization and decision-making initiatives.
- Collaborate with integration teams to support interfaces and interoperability initiatives, including HL7, FHIR, and API-based integrations.
- Assist with troubleshooting interface errors and data flow issues between systems.
- Support workflows related to external data exchange, including laboratories, imaging systems, and patient portals.
- Participate in testing and validation of integrated systems and workflows.
- Participate in system implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), workflow validation, and go-live support activities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned clinical applications and workflows.
- Collaborate with IT staff, vendors, and operational leadership to implement system enhancements and resolve issues.
- Assist with project planning, communication, and documentation activities.
- Maintain working knowledge of clinical information systems, healthcare technologies, and ambulatory workflows.
- Stay current with emerging healthcare IT trends, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and technical skill advancement.
- Apply technical and operational knowledge to develop innovative solutions that improve patient care and organizational efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare, Nursing, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Two to five years of experience in clinical informatics, healthcare IT, or clinical operations preferred.
- Experience supporting electronic health record (EHR) systems in a healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of ambulatory clinical workflows and documentation practices.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 and FHIR.
- Experience working directly with providers, nursing staff, and clinical leadership.
- Knowledge of healthcare reporting tools, data structures, and workflow analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to translate clinical operational needs into technical solutions.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work while supporting clinical systems, analyzing workflows, and documenting system changes.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach while assisting users or troubleshooting equipment and workflows.
- Manual dexterity to operate computers, mobile devices, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to travel between clinic locations or departments as needed to support operational initiatives and end users.
- Visual acuity sufficient to review technical documentation, clinical workflows, and computer systems.
- Ability to participate in after-hours support activities related to upgrades, implementations, or critical system issues when required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clinical, operational, and technical personnel in both individual and group settings.
