Slope Stability Technician I

Our Miami smelter and rod plant is nestled just 90 miles east of Phoenix. The smelter processes copper concentrate primarily from our company’s Arizona copper mines and is the most significant source of sulfuric acid for our North American leaching operations. What You Will Do Under close supervision, assists with routine small and medium-sized Engineering projects including layout and design, specification development and preparation, new product evaluation, and data collection to support operations or the Engineering unit at assigned site. Assembles data and assists with problem‑solving requiring basic theories and Engineering fundamentals Utilizes computer programs to solve Engineering problems Assists with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized Engineering projects Assists with specification development or preparation Assists with technical evaluation of equipment and material Assists in maintaining accurate and current project documentation May perform as a member of a survey or GPS mapping crew Performs other duties as required What You Bring To Freeport One (1) year of experience in an Engineering or Technical area relevant to the assignment Knowledge of specialized equipment, methods and techniques appropriate to assignment, including GIS/GPS mapping techniques Skill in safely using, maintaining and repairing specialized equipment to complete assigned projects Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards Preferred High School diploma or GED One (1) year of experience in the mining industry Aptitude for computers and/or electronics What We Offer You The estimated pay range for this role is currently $21.00 - $29.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
