Job Summary:

• Maintain standards of work and conduct as determined by the Food Service program.
• Assigns tasks to other kitchen employees and is responsible for training new kitchen personnel.
• Prepares menus, when necessary, that meet standards and prevailing food patterns of different age students.
• Inventories and orders food and supplies.
• Verifies invoices for cost, quality, and quantity of deliveries.
• Monitors portion and quality control.
• Maintains accurate daily records for milk and meals.
• Is knowledgeable to the functions of kitchen equipment and responsible for its use, care, and repair.
• Assists in preparing meals and clean-up after meals.
• Prepare and serve a simple menu for breakfast and lunch at Berlin McKinney Elementary School for Energy Express and AIM Summer School.
• Prepare/pack meals for special diets, as needed.
• Pack weekend meals for students attending Energy Express and/or Summer School.
• Deliver food to students, as needed - Transportation provided or mileage will be paid.
• Collect money for adult meals.
• Communicate with Site Coordinator, Secretary, and Director, as needed.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

• A valid Wyoming County Food Handlers Permit.
• Proficient in all areas of cooking and food preparation with a background in institutional or commercial cooking preferred.
• Should be able to read recipes and make necessary calculations for ingredient measurements.
• Should have a functional working skill in the operation of all types of school kitchen equipment.
