Sr. Principal Legal Counsel, Global Trade Legal & Compliance (Import)

Senior Principal Legal Counsel position focused on global import and customs compliance at a major medical device manufacturer. The role involves advising on trade regulations, managing compliance programs, and supporting business units across Medtronic's global operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on import, customs compliance, and strategic trade initiatives
• Advise on country of origin, HTS classification, valuation, trade remedies, and customs programs
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on Medtronic's trade compliance
• Partner with enterprise, regional, and supply chain teams to develop compliance standards and controls
• Support customs inquiries, protests, investigations, and voluntary disclosures

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from nationally recognized law school
• Active law license in at least one state or District of Columbia
• Minimum 8 years of legal experience in import laws and customs regulations
• Deep knowledge of country of origin, customs valuation, and tariff classification
• Experience managing trade compliance programs and regulatory changes
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently in matrixed, fast-paced environment
